  1. Hello, Emily! It amuses me that I have an English degree and love to read, but I just happened to make it through these first 29 years of my life without ever having read Anne of Green Gables. But this knitting book showing up on podcasts and Ravelry has inspired me to finally read it; I'm three chapters in and loving it so far!

I absolutely adore the books in the Twelve Dancing Princesses series by Jessica Day George. The characters use knitting to channel protective magic and save the people they love, and there are knitting patterns in the backs of the books, too. I didn't realize the books involved knitting when I first bought them, but that little inclusion absolutely inspires me to knit more, especially for the people I love.

P.S. - Your new photography tips section is great!

  4. I absolutely love Anne of GG but don't think that I have used any book for inspiration - I read alot of Amish based novels and have made quilts in that style but alsa no knits. I have knit some TV linked patterns, my newest being the Insulate hat for a Christmas gift. Thank you. Caroline - quiltercaroline - UK

  5. Harry Potter inspires me a lot, but you wanted other ideas too I think another character that inspires me is Tiffany Aching of the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Her grandma was a witch to a town of sheep farmers and her father is a sheep farmer, so she's been around wool her whole life. The books are hilarious but also very fulfilling, not fluff books at all. Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors and many of his other characters inspire me as well :)

  7. I can't say any specific literary character has inspired me to knit or be creative. I never really though about that. But I'm thinking the Little House on the Prairie books could do that. Thinking about the homemade Christmas gifts they gave each other, the quilts, things needed to stay warm.

  9. I LOVE that apron-how gorgeous! My mom would DIE for one-I need to learn how to knit!!!!!!!!! I love that you talked about the Love Languages-I read that about a year ago and it definitely changed the way I think about the people I love. My language is also quality time-with emphasis on communication-so we would be peas in a pod if we lived closer. LOVE YOU AND keep up the awesome work! <3

  10. I found your podcast recently and have enjoyed it!
My literary character did be Jane Eyre. It's been awhile since I've read the book, but I can imagine there are many knitting inspirations.

  11. My answer to your question t ion isn't really a character but a story....The Nutcracker. I remember watching it with my Family eve r y Holiday and having such warm memories much like a warm knitted hat or blanket. The same way you feel when you knit something for a friend. You remember all the fun silly t times and the special memories. I'm Rebecca from PA and on Ravelry as dustytreeknits. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book.
